“Reconnection” was an unusual project by all means. Filming it was a mix of awe-inciting experiences of an ancient culture but it was also a non-ending challenge of shooting in a remote dusty Indian town with regular power outages and no access to proper infrastructure.

Extended Yamuna Arati Scene

Extended Yamuna Arati Scene

There is a scene in the Reconnection film that features Yamuna Arati. This is an extended video from that actual scene, containing some extra footage that didn’t make it into a final film. Arati is a ceremony of offering articles of worship to a deity, accompanied by the chanting of devotional hymns. The Yamuna River is considered the most sacred river in India. The main reason it is so sacred is because it flows through Vrindavan and Mathura, and thus it is intimately connected to Lord Krishna’s pastimes. Krishna sported daily with His boys and girlfriends in the Yamuna River. One who bathes in the Yamuna and worships the River gets purified of all sinful reactions and attains love of God.
